A portrait view of the Brooklyn Bridge's stone tower with its two pointed Gothic arches, standing in the East River on the right. The deck and a web of suspension cables cross toward Lower Manhattan, where skyscrapers rise behind in tall, layered blocks, including pyramid-topped and spired towers.
The whole photograph is washed in warm tones. Towers glow amber, copper and gold against a sky of pink and lilac, while the river below turns deep purple with a small patch of bright reflection at left. Low piers and pale waterfront buildings sit along the shoreline, giving the dense city a calm base.
