About Water Birds
Two flamingos fill the width of a flat turquoise field, one standing tall with its neck curved into a hook and its black-tipped beak angled down, the other lower and to the left with its head turned in profile. Both bodies are built from blocks and bands of flat colour: scarlet, coral, salmon, apricot, orange, magenta, cobalt and pale cream, with small blue rings for the eyes. Bands of colour run across the bodies like brushed ribbons rather than feathers.
Thin white lines of paint run down from the backs and necks, left to drip and dry against the blue. There is almost no shading or background detail, so the interest sits in how the colour shapes interlock. The character is bold and graphic, closer to a poster or mural than a wildlife study, and the drips keep it loose rather than tidy.
Works in rooms that can take strong colour: a white hallway, a kids' or teen bedroom, a pool room or a light-filled living area.
