About Copper Core
A dense, dark cluster sits at the centre of the square canvas, built from chocolate and rust browns with chips of cream and pale grey stacked like broken tiles. Thin pale rods cross through it and spike outward past the edges of the mass, with one long horizontal line running the full width of the canvas. Around the centre the paint opens into a burst of tan, ochre, warm white and cool silver-grey, dragged outward in flat, squared strokes so the background reads as light spreading from the core.
The character is industrial and controlled: a heavy, almost metallic knot held in place by straight lines, softened by the hazy neutral field behind it.
Works over a sideboard in a neutral living room, in a hallway with grey walls, or above a bed with linen in oatmeal and charcoal. The browns pick up timber floors, leather and rattan, while the grey ground keeps it calm next to concrete, brushed nickel or black steel furniture.
