About Harbour Village
A tight row of tall, narrow houses runs across the middle of this wide canvas, painted in cream, white and pale stone with grey-blue and ochre roofs. Small dark rectangles stand in for windows and doorways. Below the seawall the tide has pulled back, leaving wet sand streaked with warm beige and cool grey. A handful of fishing boats sit beached on their hulls, their dark shapes repeated as loose reflections in the shallow water. A small brown dog trots across the sand at the right.
A broad, thinly brushed sky of soft blue and white fills the upper half, scraped horizontally so the weave shows through. The overall character is quiet and understated, a muted low-tide scene built from flat planes and dragged brushwork rather than fine detail.
The long, low shape suits a wall above a sofa, a sideboard or a bedhead, and works well in hallways where a tall picture would crowd the space. The pale grey, cream and sand palette sits comfortably with white walls, linen upholstery, oak or rattan furniture and coastal or Hamptons-style interiors.
