About Colourful Macaroons
A three by three grid fills the square, each cell a flat block of colour - lime, orange, turquoise, teal, yellow, red, deep brown, green and pink. Inside every cell sits a single macaron resting in a fluted paper cupcake case, the case colour deliberately clashing with its background. The macarons run pink, caramel, pistachio, apricot, pale blue, chocolate, magenta, cream and bright orange, each with a visible ruffled foot and a thick filling line between the two shells.
One letter sits in the lower left corner of each cell, spelling D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S when read across the rows, set in mismatched typewriter and stencil-style type on small coloured tiles. The surface carries a soft printed grain and a slight paper texture through the flat colour fields. The character is cheerful and graphic - a sweet-shop window arranged with the discipline of a colour chart.
Made for kitchens, dining nooks and cafe-style breakfast areas, and just as happy in a kids room or playroom. It lifts a plain white splashback wall or a run of open shelving, and pairs with painted timber furniture, coloured stools and other food or typographic prints.
