About Mountain Summit
A square canvas split roughly in half. The upper two thirds are soft and cloudlike: pale aqua, cream, blush pink, lilac and a wash of sage green, blended wet into wet with broad flat strokes that leave visible edges where one colour sits over another. Below that sits a hard band of saturated colour reading as a ridgeline, built from hot magenta, cadmium yellow, deep violet, cobalt and a patch of dark teal at the right edge. Thin rivulets of pink, yellow, orange and purple run straight down from that band to the bottom edge.
Character comes from the contrast: quiet, almost misty upper half against a loud fluorescent ridge that has been allowed to drip and bleed. It reads as a mountain skyline only loosely, and works just as well as pure colour.
Suits a white or light grey wall where the pastel top half can breathe: a living room above a low sideboard, a bedroom above the bedhead, or a hallway end wall. Pairs with pale timber, brass, linen and plain upholstery. The fluorescent pink and yellow drips also lift a plain home office or a teenager's room.
