A single large wave fills the frame, its lip curling over from the upper centre and hurling a plume of white spray to the right. Beneath the lip the face turns a clear, glowing green, where light passes through the thinning water. The edge of the barrel is sharply defined against the foam.
The wave face sweeps down to the left in long, combed lines of deep blue and teal, streaked with thin ribbons of cream foam. A band of choppy water runs along the bottom right. The sky is mostly hidden by mist, with only a hint of pale blue at the top. It is a close, sharp photograph with strong movement in the water.
