Several dahlia heads are drawn in fine line work on a white ground, each one layered over a loose wash of watercolour. A large magenta bloom sits at the bottom, its black hatched petals cut off by the lower edge. Above it, smaller dahlias are outlined in grey, white and black.
The colour is a bright mix of hot pink, deep magenta, violet and teal. The pink wash spreads out on the left, and the teal pools in the top right with darker, mottled edges. Where the washes overlap, a purple tone forms. The ink lines sit over the paint, so the petal detail stays crisp against the soft, bleeding colour.
