About Darkness Ahead
A single large orb fills most of the canvas, set against a ground of deep maroon and brown that has been worked in loose circular sweeps so the paint darkens towards the corners. The orb is split down the centre: the left half is ochre and gold, finely hatched so the surface reads like a textured shell, while the right half is pale cream and putty, smoothly built up with faint pink warmth near the lower edge. Thin dark lines curve across the cream side, and a fine brown line trails off beyond the orb at top and bottom.
A quiet, contained piece where a single warm shape sits against darkness, more about the balance of gold, cream and maroon than any recognisable object. It is signed Oscar Sun at lower right.
Works in a lounge room or hallway with warm neutral walls, tan leather, timber and brass. The maroon ground suits dining rooms and reading corners lit by lamplight. Pair it with plain cream cushions, a jute or wool rug, and keep nearby walls uncluttered so the single orb holds attention.
