A shallow tidal creek curves from the lower left across a pale sandy beach towards the sea. Its surface holds the sky: soft gold patches on the right, olive green shadow on the left. Two weathered driftwood limbs lie in the foreground on the right, one bleached and straight, the other a gnarled tangle of bark and roots.
Dark, heavy clouds fill the upper half of the frame, lit from below by a band of orange and yellow along the horizon. The sea is a thin silver-blue line beyond the sand bar. A leafy tree in deep shadow frames the top left corner. This is a photograph with long-exposure smoothness in the water and rich, warm colour.
