Large bleached driftwood logs lie across the foreground of a sandy beach, the longest running diagonally toward the right edge where its broken end catches the light. Smaller sticks, kelp strands and a rounded stone are scattered at the bottom left, and the sand is pitted with countless footprints.
The sea stretches across the upper half in dark, choppy bands, with a thin line of white surf running along the shoreline. A low sun glows at the top left behind soft layered cloud, throwing a bright sheen onto the water. It is a black and white photograph with deep greys and pale, silvery highlights.
