About Eiffel Tower Sunset
The Eiffel Tower stands dead centre, lit from within so its lattice ironwork glows warm gold from the base arch to the tip of the antenna. Behind it the sky runs from deep violet-blue at the top through streaked mauve cloud to a band of hot pink and orange low on the horizon, where small dark clouds catch the last light. Rows of clipped trees line both edges of the frame, silhouetted almost black, with street lamps glowing between them along the lawns of the Champ de Mars.
Small figures gather on the grass and paths in the foreground, giving a sense of scale against the tower. The photograph is symmetrical and sharply detailed, with strong colour contrast between the cool upper sky and the warm artificial light below.
A strong single piece for a living room, hallway or bedroom where the walls are white, grey or soft charcoal. The violet and pink sky works with navy velvet, brass lamps and dark timber.
