A large owl with upright ear tufts and pale, wide-set eyes perches on a gnarled branch, turned slightly towards the viewer. Its plumage is built from fine engraved lines, dense and dark across the folded wings and finer across the streaked chest. Heavy talons grip the knotted timber at the bottom left.
The background looks like aged paper or weathered wood, mottled in cream, beige and soft brown with scuffed, uneven patches. On the right a pale tree rises in a grainy sepia silhouette, its trunk dark at the base. The square image is a layered illustration, and the palette stays in warm browns and creams with near-black detail on the bird.
