About Exotic Dancer
A stylised female figure is seated in profile on the left of the canvas, painted in flat metallic gold and bronze with no facial detail, one arm raised behind the head and the legs folded up. Her hair and the space around her break apart into thrown paint: red, crimson, white and acid yellow flicks and droplets that scatter across a dark brown and black ground. A narrow red band and a thin grey line split the canvas vertically.
The right panel shifts to warm orange and burnt sienna, marked with drawn white spirals, open circles and small red squares, plus more yellow drips running down. The effect is a quiet gold figure held inside a burst of energetic, dripped colour.
Suits a lounge room, main bedroom or hallway with warm neutral, terracotta or charcoal walls. The gold and orange work well against timber furniture, leather and brass or copper lighting. Hang it as a single vertical feature above a sideboard or bedhead where the splatter detail can be seen close up. Browse more women in art, orange art, contemporary art.
