About Faceless Void
A square abstract built from overlapping rectangles. Warm rust and burnt orange fill the centre, with two tilted pale gold panels near the top left and centre, their surfaces scored with fine horizontal scratch marks like faint writing. A dark tapering shape, almost black at the top and softening to grey, runs down the right of centre and ends in a rough gold knot near the middle. Black, cream and ochre blocks edge the borders, breaking the frame into a loose grid.
The paint is laid thickly in places, with dragged and scraped textures, and thinned washes elsewhere so earlier layers glow through. Its character is warm and worked-over, closer to a weathered wall than a clean geometric design.
Suits a lounge room with tan leather, timber or exposed brick, and works above a sideboard or fireplace where the rust and gold can pick up warm lighting. Good in a dining room with brass fittings, or an office wall against cream or charcoal paint. Pair with plain linen and dark timber rather than busy patterns. The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
