A single flamingo stands on one leg with its neck curved sharply down and its dark-tipped beak reaching toward the water. The raised leg folds back at a sharp angle. The body is built from loose strokes of rust red, orange and soft pink, with a small blue-grey eye.
The background is a field of dragged apricot and cream strokes, flecked with small drops of lavender-blue that read as splashes. A pale grey-blue shadow sits under the standing leg at the bottom edge. The brushwork is thick and visible, and the square crop keeps the bird close and large in the frame.
