Five long feathers stand upright in a evenly spaced row across a solid black background. Each one is rendered in a mottled gold and tan tone, with pale highlights along the central shaft and darker brown flecks where the surface looks worn. The quills taper to thin stems that point downward at slightly different heights.
The edges of each feather are ragged, with splits and notches cutting into the vanes so the black shows through in thin slashes. The second feather from the left is the tallest and narrowest, while the middle one has a frayed tuft near its base. A few tiny gold specks scatter in the bottom left corner. The look is a metallic, foil-like illustration rather than a photograph.
