About Floating in Nowhere
A square abstract built almost entirely from rust, terracotta and burnt copper. Just above centre sits a small dark rectangle, navy-black with a scratched olive-gold core, the one still shape in an otherwise moving field. A pale cream band sweeps diagonally beneath it, split by a hard black line that runs from upper left to lower right. At lower left a pool of ochre and yellow glows through thin scumbled paint, edged with dark blue. Fine white specks scatter across the upper right like drifting dust.
Texture carries the work: combed ridges near the top left, dry-brushed grit through the copper field, and small raised blobs of pale pink and white clustered along the bottom edge. The character is quiet and mineral, like weathered rock or oxidised metal caught in warm light.
Suits warm interiors with timber, leather or brick - a lounge room above a tan sofa, a dining wall beside jarrah furniture, or a hallway with limestone tones. Pairs with terracotta pots, brass lamps and linen in oatmeal. The square format works well centred above a low sideboard or in a two-piece grouping.
