About Forbidden Love II
Two heart shapes sit at the centre of a swirling orange field, drawn into the wet paint with a fine tool so the outlines read as scratched lines rather than painted edges. The upper left heart is larger and tilted, its interior pale cream where the light gathers; the lower right heart overlaps it and sits slightly forward. A third, partly formed heart fades into the rust-coloured mass at the right edge. Around them the surface moves in broad sweeping strokes of copper, burnt orange and deep brown, darkest in the corners.
A quiet, warm painting built on texture and light rather than detail, where the hearts emerge from the surface only when you look for them.
Suits a bedroom above the bedhead, a lounge room with tan leather or timber furniture, or a hallway that needs warmth. The copper and rust tones work with cream walls, jute rugs, brass lamps and terracotta pots. The wide landscape shape fits well above a low sideboard or a three-seater sofa.
