About Forbidden Love
Three heart shapes emerge from a warm, smoke-like ground. At the right sits the largest, filled with deep burnt sienna and brown that darkens along its upper edge and tapers to a soft point near the lower border. To the left, a pale cream and apricot heart tilts forward, overlapped by a smaller amber heart behind its shoulder. Outlines are drawn with thin dragged strokes rather than hard edges, and the background shifts from near-white in the centre to rust at the corners.
paintwork of this kind stays quiet: the colour range is narrow, held to orange, tan and cream, and the drama comes from the contrast between the dark right-hand heart and the light pair beside it. Long curving brushmarks sweep beneath the shapes like wind, and thin scratched lines cut across the surface. The character is warm and hazy, more suggestion than statement, with a soft focus that reads as romantic without being sentimental.
Suits a main bedroom above the bedhead, a lounge room with tan leather or timber, or a hallway that needs warmth. The rust and cream palette works with terracotta, linen, jute rugs and brass lighting, and sits well on white, greige or clay-toned walls. Pairs with earthy ceramics and dried grasses.
