About Funky Room
The whole canvas is worked in blue, from a deep teal at the edges to lighter, chalkier patches rubbed back across the middle. A tall narrow vessel sits low in the lower left, drawn with dark outlines and streaked with white drips. From it five thin, curving stems arch upward and outward, each tipped with a small pale bud picked out in white and light blue. To the right, two more brush-drawn shapes stand like slim bottles, scratched with white lines and topped by rounded forms.
Behind them, ruled rectangles suggest a window with vertical bars at left and a larger panel at upper right, both scored with fine dark lines. The paint is dry and textured, with the ground scraped and layered so earlier blues show through. It is a quiet, graphic painting where line does most of the work and the single colour family holds everything together.
Suits a bedroom, hallway or bathroom where a calm single-colour wall piece works best. It sits well on white, pale grey or soft sand walls, and pairs with linen bedding, pale timber furniture and ceramics in blue or stone. Hang it as a tall single piece above a console, sideboard or bedhead. Browse more floral art, blue art, the Statton Collection.
