A flower-lined terrace curves along a headland above a blue bay. In the foreground a woman in a long white dress and straw hat carries a basket of flowers, while a boy in shorts holds her hand. Pink peonies, white blooms and red geraniums spill across the lower left corner.
On the left a second woman in a blue skirt stands with a small child, a collie and a bunch of balloons in pink and yellow. A white lighthouse with a red cap and a red-roofed cottage sit on the rocks behind them. Waves break on dark rocks, gulls fly over the water, and a rowboat rests at the right. Soft clouds fill the sky in this detailed impressionist-style scene.
