About Garden Wall
Rectangular blocks of colour are stacked and overlapped across the canvas like weathered stone slabs or a section of rendered wall. Moss and olive greens dominate the lower half and the centre, while pale off-white and grey panels run through the upper third, one broad band crossing horizontally just above the middle. Small flecks of rust, ochre and a single dot of red break the cool palette. Paint is dragged and scraped with a knife so each block holds a scuffed, pitted surface with hard edges where the planes meet.
The character is quiet and architectural: a calm, weathered grid that reads as lichen on old masonry rather than a bold statement of colour.
Suits rooms with natural materials: timber floors, linen sofas, stone or concrete benchtops. Hang it in a hallway, above a sideboard, or in a study where its vertical shape fills a narrow wall. Pairs with indoor greenery, rattan and warm brass, and works well against white, putty or soft grey paint. Browse more abstract oil paintings, the Statton Collection.
