A single broad tree fills the centre of a square frame, its rounded crown spreading wide above a short, thick trunk. The image is a photographic negative, so the leaves and branches glow white and pale grey against a solid black sky with no horizon glow or clouds.
Fine detail shows through the canopy: dark gaps between clumps of foliage, thin forked limbs reaching sideways, and a mottled grey texture in the trunk. A pale strip of ground runs along the bottom, with faint fence posts at the lower right. The tonal range stays strictly black, white and grey.
