The image is built from five vertical panels. At the centre, a mottled gold and tan panel holds three orchid stems in silhouette: a pale cream one in the middle and a solid black one on each side. Each stem carries rounded petals and small buds at the tips, and the surface has a scratchy, plastered texture.
On the far left and far right sit black and white damask patterns, with large curling leaves and a flower head on the left and scrolling white swirls on black at the right. Beside the gold panel, a narrow cream strip shows a single yellow flower with a dark centre on a thin grey stem, with a grey bud below. Thin worn, rusty bands divide the panels. It reads as a mixed-media style illustration.
