A young girl walks barefoot across wet sand, her head turned down and to the left. She holds a loose white garment up around her shoulders with both hands, and a small pink and lilac flower sits in her dark, wavy hair. Warm light catches the top of the fabric and her raised arm.
The background is a brushy wash of mauve, grey-violet and slate blue, with visible strokes in every direction. The white cloth shifts from cream and pale yellow in the light to cool lavender in the folds. A blue shadow stretches across the sand at the bottom right, and her feet are reflected faintly in the wet surface. The finish is loose and textured, like an impressionist oil study.
