About Golden Opportunity
A portrait-format abstract built on a graded ground that shifts from deep burgundy at the top through burnt orange to warm ochre along the lower edge. The main event is a tall bronze-gold rectangle set slightly left of centre in the upper half, its surface crumpled and ridged like pressed foil or bark, catching light along every crease. Down the left side sit three small cream squares, each ringed by a raised border and faintly scratched inside, spaced like markers on a vertical line.
In the lower right a domed shape rises, outlined by fine incised gold arcs that fan out like rays, filled with a pale grey-white crust flecked with brown and split by a thin vertical line. A small pale rectangle floats at right, half dissolved into the orange. The character is quiet and deliberate: heavy warmth held in check by a few carefully placed, heavily worked shapes.
Warm enough to anchor a living room with tan leather or timber, and works over a sideboard in a hallway or dining room. The red and ochre sit well with brass lamps, jute rugs and terracotta pots, and the gold panel picks up candlelight. Good single statement piece on a plain white or charcoal wall.
