A broad pastoral scene in loose, visible brushwork. A tall leafy tree stands at the left, its canopy broken by small gaps of pale sky. Beneath it, a grassy mound curves down toward a dry stone wall built of flat grey and tan stones, with a rough stone step set into the wall at the lower left.
The wall runs across the middle of the picture and glows in rusty orange and brown. Slanted strokes of green, olive and lilac fill the foreground field. Further back, a flat green paddock leads to a low line of rounded trees under a warm, hazy yellow-gold sky. Colours are soft and the paint looks thick and textured.
