A chestnut and white paint horse stands side-on in a dry paddock with its head lowered to graze on a small patch of green grass. The white patches across its barrel and neck are broken by dark brown markings, and its pale tail swings out to the left, catching the light.
The sun sits behind the horse, so its mane and tail glow gold at the edges and a long shadow falls across the ground toward the viewer. Behind it, a row of green and yellow trees rises to dark conifers and a bare, folded hillside. This is a photograph in warm browns, golds and greens.
