A timber boat sits bow-on at the centre of the frame, its varnished planks running in copper-brown curves toward a central ridge. The hull is mirrored almost perfectly in flat water below, so the boat appears to float above its own reflection.
A single seagull with spread wings and tucked legs hangs in the air above the bow, slightly left of centre. Heavy grey cloud fills the top half and fades to pale mist at the horizon. The scene is a surreal photographic composite where the only warm colour is the wood and the bird's pale plumage.
