A small harbour fills the square frame, with white wooden boats moored in the foreground. Their hulls are built from thick, ridged strokes of white, trimmed with thin red and green lines. Below them the still water mirrors the boats in broken streaks of white, cobalt and ultramarine, with small flecks of orange and yellow scattered across the surface.
Behind the quay, a row of dark green palms stands against cream and ochre buildings with red roofs. A pale bell tower with a pointed spire rises on the left, and tall flagpoles stand along the waterfront. A building with green shutters and blue awnings fills the right edge. The sky is a flat, deep blue, and the heavy impasto texture gives the scene a warm, sunlit feel.
