About Hazy Field
Roughly two thirds of this upright canvas is sky: pale blue broken by loose banks of grey-white cloud, with faint apricot and green-gold tints bleeding through the upper left and right corners. Below, a low horizon of rounded rises runs across the canvas, the left slope hazed with olive and mustard scrub, the right one warmer with orange and rust. The foreground opens into a broad field of yellow and gold, cut by a paler track that curves back toward a gap in the ridge.
Everything is painted wet and soft, edges blurred so cloud, scrub and grass dissolve into one another, with a patch of red-orange low in the field and dark green shadow along the bottom corners. The character is quiet and warm, a summer paddock seen through heat haze rather than a sharply drawn view.
Suits a bedroom, hallway or dining room where you want warmth without pattern. The gold and rust read well against white, putty or pale grey walls, and against oak, rattan and linen.
