A wide, quiet landscape dominated by sky. The upper two thirds is a mottled wash of ochre, cream and soft grey-green, with a scratchy, plaster-like texture that reads as thin cloud or haze. The light is brightest in the middle, where the colour fades almost to white just above the horizon.
Along the bottom sit small, rounded clumps of dark olive trees, spread in two groups with a gap between them. Below them a flat olive and brown field holds a pale sliver of water that catches the sky. The edges are blurred, so the trees melt into the mist. It is a muted, painterly image with a still, early-morning feel.
