About In Flight II
A single gannet fills the frame, body angled downward from the top right corner with its long grey-blue bill pointing left. The head and nape are washed a soft buttermilk yellow, the body creamy white, and the outstretched wings are tipped and edged with dark chocolate and grey-brown flight feathers. Behind the bird the background is a mottled slate grey, covered in fine scratches, scuffs and pale streaks that read like weathered metal or a distressed photographic plate.
The overall effect is quiet and worn rather than crisp wildlife photography: the scratched surface bleeds over the bird's wings and chest so the two layers merge. It feels still and slightly melancholy, with the bird caught mid-descent.
Suits a bedroom, hallway or home office where you want a calm grey and brown focal point.
