About Jezebel
A white toy poodle's head sits on the body of a woman in a black velvet Elizabethan gown, complete with a high lace collar, puffed shoulders and long ropes of pearls down the front. The backdrop is a heavy red theatre curtain, gathered and tied back with a red sash on the right. Four glitter mirror balls in blue, pink, lilac and green hang on strings above. A large violet rose sits at the gown's left hip, near a small gold sceptre held in one hand.
Two cream cats complete the scene: one perched mid-air against the sleeve, the other seated on a pale stone ledge below wearing a pink ribbon bow. A small paper tag reading "Imagine" is tucked into the lower right corner. The surface reads as aged paper and torn collage edges, with soft grain across the curtain folds. The mood is deadpan and theatrical, part royal portrait and part disco joke.
Works in a hallway, powder room or home office where a single odd, witty picture carries the wall. The red curtain suits dark green, charcoal or plum walls, and sits well above a black console or a velvet chair. Pair with other animal portraits or antique gold frames for a slightly eccentric gallery wall. Browse more red art, multi-coloured art, or read Art above the bed: what size and how high.
