About Blue Jug Bouquet
Two vessels sit on a pale table top. On the left, a cream jug with a curved handle holds a tall spray of cobalt and sky blue blossoms, each petal set down as a separate blade of thick paint with small red dots at the centres. To the right, a short green glass tumbler carries white daisies with yellow eyes, along with pink, magenta and violet flowers and a few dark buds. The background is worked in broad sweeps of cream, grey-blue, ochre and warm brown.
Everything is built with the palette knife, so the paint stands off the canvas in ridges that catch the light. It is a bright, informal table arrangement rather than a careful botanical study.
Suits a dining room wall, a hallway console or a kitchen nook where the yellow and ochre background can warm white or pale grey paint.
