About Violet Meadow
A dense band of flowers fills the lower half of the canvas and thins as it rises into a pale lemon background. The darkest blooms sit along the bottom edge in near-black aubergine and plum, each petal pressed on with a knife so the edges stand proud of the surface. Above them, mid-purple flowers with small yellow centres open outward, and higher still the blooms turn white, scattering across the yellow like confetti. Slim stems of beaded rust and violet dots arc up between the clusters.
The background is worked in broad flat knife strokes, so the yellow shows visible ridges and directional sweeps rather than a smooth wash. Small flecks of pink, orange and olive drift through the upper space, echoing the petals below. The overall character is bright and rhythmic: a heavily textured garden border that reads as abstract pattern from across the room and as individual flowers up close.
Works in a living room above a low sideboard, in a bedroom over the bed head, or in an entry hall where the yellow lifts a dim corner. It pairs with white or pale grey walls, oak and rattan furniture, linen in cream or soft plum, and indoor greenery. Good as a single square statement.
