About Red Blossom Tree
A slim brown trunk rises from the lower edge, curving to the right before splitting into fine twisting branches that carry two broad canopies of blossom. Each flower is built from four or five short palette-knife strokes of scarlet and orange-red, raised well off the canvas, with a small grey-white dot at the centre. The background is filled with hundreds of stacked knife marks in cream, pale green, ochre and warm tan, laid like small tiles so the whole surface reads as texture rather than sky.
Bright, tactile and decorative, with strong contrast between the red blossoms and the soft neutral ground. Side lighting brings out the ridges in the paint and casts small shadows across the flower heads.
Suits a neutral living room, hallway or dining wall where the red can act as the single accent. Works above a low sideboard or a cream sofa, and sits well with timber furniture, linen upholstery and brass or black frames. The heavy texture reads best under a picture light or near a window.
