About Prism Gaze
A woman's face fills the whole square canvas, cropped at the forehead and chin so only the features remain. The eyes are the one carefully drawn part, dark irises set under heavy brows, while everything around them is broken into flat knife-laid slabs of magenta, turquoise, yellow, orange and violet. These bright blocks run down both cheeks like streaked colour, meet in a wedge of orange along the nose, and gather in a red mouth banded with black and pale blue.
Green and blue strokes sweep through the hair at the top, and the background is scraped charcoal and brown, thin enough that the weave shows in places. Ridges of thick paint catch the light along the cheekbones and lip line. The character is bold and graphic up close, yet from a distance the colour resolves into a calm, direct face looking straight at the viewer.
A single strong piece for a living room, entry hall or stairwell where one wall can carry the colour. It works against white, charcoal or deep green walls, and sits well above a low sideboard or a plain linen sofa. Pair with black metal frames, brass lamps and simple, uncluttered furniture.
