About Breaking Wave Shore
A single wave curls across the centre of the canvas, its face built from deep cobalt and navy knife strokes that turn translucent at the lip. Yellow and cream catch along the crest where the light hits, then break into thick white foam that spills across the lower half. Dark brown and near-black rocks sit wet in the shallows at the right and lower edge, half covered by running water. Behind the wave the open sea flattens into bands of mid blue to a straight horizon, under a pale sky of grey-blue and cream cloud.
Every mark is laid with a palette knife, so the paint stands off the canvas in ridges that read as moving water. The mood is bright and breezy rather than stormy, a working stretch of coast on a clear day.
Suits a living room, hallway or bedroom with white or pale grey walls, and works in coastal and beach house interiors. Pairs with timber furniture, linen upholstery, rattan and jute, and sits well above a sideboard or bedhead. The wide format also fills a long wall in a stairwell or above a sofa.
