About Roadside Jacaranda Bend
A sealed country road curves in from the lower left, its grey-blue surface marked with a yellow centre line and a white edge stripe, passing a low guardrail before disappearing behind the trees. Above it stands a broad jacaranda in lilac and violet bloom, with an orange-flowering tree rising behind it and a small lime-green shrub tucked in front. Ochre and tan hills sit either side, and a rough post-and-wire fence runs through bright green grass on the right. The sky is pale blue with thin white cloud.
Everything is laid on with a palette knife in short flat strokes, so the blossom reads as thick ridges of paint rather than fine detail. The result is a high-key, cheerful roadside scene where colour carries the picture.
Suits a hallway, living room or dining wall that needs colour without a dark note. The lilac and orange sit well against white, pale grey or soft green walls, and pick up cane, rattan and light timber furniture.
