About Jacaranda Lane
A large jacaranda leans from the right of the canvas, its trunk pale and splitting into thin arching branches that carry thick clusters of lilac and violet blossom across the upper half of the picture. Behind it the sky is laid in with off-white and cream strokes. A white post-and-rail fence runs along the lower left, broken by a sandy track that climbs to the right where a second fence and a darker blue-green stand of trees sit. Yellow and lime grasses crowd the fence line.
The paint is pushed on in flat palette-knife slabs, so the blossom reads as chopped ridges of colour and the foreground breaks into terracotta, peach and red earth. It is a bright, high-key country scene with the loose, sunlit feel of a quick outdoor study.
Suits a hallway above a console, a dining room wall or a bedroom where the purple can sit against white or pale grey paint. Works with timber furniture, cane and linen, and picks up well beside green indoor plants. The wide format fits above a sideboard, low bookshelf or bedhead.
