About Amber Autumn Pathway
A wide dirt path curves from the bottom left corner into the centre of the picture, where two small figures walk away from the viewer into a pale wash of light. A large tree leans in from the right, its dark trunk splitting into thin branches hung with slabs of scarlet, crimson and orange leaf colour. On the left, slimmer trunks carry olive green and yellow foliage. The ground is laid in long horizontal strokes of gold, ochre and rust, with cooler mauve shadows crossing it.
The paint sits thick and ridged, applied with a knife so each leaf is a separate flat block of colour catching light at its edge. The character is warm and quiet: an ordinary autumn walk turned almost incandescent by the reds and the glow at the end of the track.
Suits a living room with warm timber floors, a hallway that needs colour at the far end, or a dining room with cream or grey walls. It works beside leather, rattan and brass, and holds its own above a long sofa or a sideboard. Keep surrounding pieces plain so the red foliage stays the focus.
