About Harbour Lights
A wide panoramic band of blocky vertical strokes reads as a city skyline seen across water. Pale sky blue sits at the left edge, warms through yellow and gold across the centre, then deepens into rust red and brown at the right. Slim black verticals stand in for towers and masts, while small dabs of cream and gold punctuate them like lit windows. A dark charcoal line runs horizontally through the middle as the waterline, and everything above it is repeated below in softer, dragged strokes.
The paint is laid on thickly with a palette knife, leaving square-edged ridges, scraped flats and visible knife marks that catch the light. Its character is warm and glowing rather than literal: a city at dusk suggested through blocks of colour and flecks of reflected light.
The long horizontal shape suits a wall above a three-seat sofa, a sideboard or a bed head, and works well in a hallway that needs colour at one end. The gold and rust tones pick up timber floors, tan leather and brass lamps, while the pale blue keeps it light against white or soft grey walls.
