About Spring Tree Cyclists
A large round-canopied tree fills the right half of the canvas, built from hundreds of square palette-knife dabs in lime, yellow-green and soft olive, flecked with small white blossoms. Its dark grey trunk and low branches are laid in with thin drags of paint. On the left, a cluster of small village houses with orange, green and white roofs sits behind a pale mint waterline. Three cyclists move along a yellow-green verge, their baskets loaded with tiny flowers.
The overall feel is light and airy, with a high-key mint and white background that keeps the thick green foliage as the focus. Loose flat-bladed boats rest on the water in the foreground, painted in a few grey strokes.
Suits bright living rooms, entry halls and bedrooms with white or pale grey walls, and works well above a light timber sideboard or a linen sofa. Pairs with rattan, pale oak and indoor greenery.
