About Golden Light Burst
Hundreds of small rectangular knife strokes spread across a deep amber ground, clustering densely in the middle of the canvas and thinning as they travel to the edges. At the centre the blocks turn pale cream and near-white, so the paint reads as concentrated light; further out they warm into buttery yellow, then gold, then dissolve into the ochre background. Each mark is laid flat with the edge of the blade, leaving ridges of raised paint that catch the light and cast small shadows across the surface.
There is no drawn subject, only rhythm and density. The effect is of light breaking apart, a warm confetti burst that stays calm because the palette never leaves the yellow family.
Warms a north-facing living room or a hallway with little natural light. Works above a grey or charcoal sofa, against white and pale timber walls, and beside brass or rattan pieces.
