About Violet Meadow
A dense field of purple wildflowers fills the lower two thirds of the canvas, each bloom built from short, thick strokes of paint laid on with a palette knife. Petals sit in ridges that catch the light, ranging from near-black plum in the shadowed foreground to pale lilac and white-tipped mauve towards the middle distance. Small dabs of yellow and orange mark the flower centres. Thin green flicks run between the blooms as stems, with brighter emerald showing through the gaps near the base.
Above the flowers the sky is a pale aqua and turquoise, scraped flat with broad knife sweeps and streaks of white that leave a plaster-like texture. Scattered buds break the horizon line as loose purple dots against the blue. The effect is simple and cheerful, a close-up meadow with real physical relief you can see from an angle.
Suits a bedroom above the bedhead, a hallway, or a dining wall where the aqua sky can pick up blue-grey or white paintwork.
