About Crimson Poppy Field
A wide panoramic canvas is filled from the bottom edge to just above the midline with hundreds of red poppy heads, each one laid down as a single thick dab of the palette knife. The blooms are densest and darkest along the lower edge, where deep maroon and near-black shadows sit between the petals, and they thin out as they climb, breaking into scattered single flowers against the upper band. Behind them the sky is pale ice blue and white, scraped flat with the knife so the ridges catch the light.
The character is bold and simple: one colour against one background, with all the interest coming from the raised paint surface and the way the poppies scatter as they rise.
The long, low format suits the wall above a sofa, a sideboard or a bed head. The cool blue-white upper band keeps it easy in pale grey, white or oak rooms, while the red gives a dining room or entry hall a clear focal point.
