About White Blossom Turquoise
A single blossom tree leans in from the lower right, its dark trunk curving up through the centre before splitting into thin branches that carry a wide canopy of white flowers. Each bloom is built from short palette-knife strokes, five or six raised petals around a small dot of orange-yellow. The upper background is turquoise, laid in square blocks of blade work, while the lower third turns to warm brown and rust with teal breaking through the gaps.
The contrast of cool turquoise sky against warm earth tones gives the piece a bright, decorative feel. Heavy paint catches side light, so the flowers cast tiny shadows and the canvas reads as texture as much as image.
Works above a sideboard in a dining room, over a bed with white linen, or along a hallway wall. The turquoise suits rooms with teal cushions, timber floors and rattan or brown leather furniture.
