About Coastal Poppy Field
Five panels of staggered heights carry one scene: a broad meadow of red and pink poppies running uphill to a white picket fence, then a blue bay under a pale, lightly clouded sky. Loose green-blue water threads through the lower left like a shallow creek. Poppies in the foreground are built up in thick knife-loaded strokes, each bloom a few flicks of crimson and pink around a dark centre, set among yellow and ochre grass. Orange and mustard shrubs sit along the fence line, with low hills at the far left.
The paint sits high off the canvas, so the flowers catch light and read as texture as much as colour. A single white sail on the water keeps the eye travelling from the poppies out to the horizon.
Suited to a living room above a long sofa, a dining wall, or a wide hallway where the five panels can spread out. The red, pink and yellow lift white, grey or pale green walls, and it sits well with timber furniture, linen upholstery, cane and brass or warm lamplight.
